Using a mix of papier mache and driftwood, I
have produced a range of driftwood sailing boats sailing on a papier mache made
sea. This technique provides a texturally rich sculpture bringing to life
the experience of sailing a wooden boat on a choppy sea.
These boat sculptures are approx 9" x 12" and
cost between £50.00 and £80.00
Classic Framed Boats
Further to producing small ceramic boats on
driftwood I have further extended the range to mount the boat sculptures in
a classic frame.
These boats can be either laid on paper or water weathered
pieces of driftwood and are each individually signed, before framing.
I use a range of hand printed papers roughly torn and
fragments of old boats or driftwood as backgrounds bases for the glass pieces. Some of the bases under the boats even come from an old Mirror
dinghy!
Each one is different and sizes vary up to 15” x 12”.
These can be made with different background colours and are
named individual nautical names.
A commission could be made with a special name
and colouring to suit your tastes.
You may wish choose your own name of a boat you have connections with or a
magical place you want to recall.
