Ceramic and Driftwood Boats
If you want a simple stylish gift at a very realistic price these could be
just the thing for you. What started as a little one-off
thank you present has become a best seller!
The Summer of 2003 was just too hot to do papier mache so I spent my days on the
seashore searching for bits and
pieces and a new craft started to take shape.
Using driftwood, glass, slate and china found at a harbour in Sussex, I
began to
create these lovely and original
boats on artistic sea washed driftwood. I was fascinated by the way the backgrounds varied from faded
original ship's
paint to simple washes or
painted seascapes. I found I could add a small touch, like a silver coin used as
a moon or a piece of driftwood used as a breakwater to enhance the boat. Each piece is
therefore totally unique
and different and each piece of
wood has its own texture and sea worn shape.

The driftwood boats vary but are approx 100mm square and come
with a wire or string for wall hanging. Each
is signed by the artist (me!) and has an original title. Titles are all
sea inspired and can be clever, witty, descriptive or just classic boat names.
Prices are £ 22.00 including UK First Class postage.
Please state if you would like a plain
wash or detailed painted background. Please have a closer look at the pictures
