How I Work

The Art of Papier Mache or Paper Mache Sculpture

This photo gallery shows the various stages produced to create the final piece of  papier mache artwork known as "Diver".

This was inspired by a piece of driftwood I found in Chichester Harbour  with a 'porthole' already    in place.

Much of my work is made from recycled materials as well as, of course, newspaper!

From a piece of wire, an old plastic tub, a piece of driftwood , sand, shells and, of course, newspaper an original was born.  I created this for a keen teenage diver to remind him of wonderful memories of diving holidays spent in the Maldives.

A lot of painstaking detail went into the painting and varnishing.  Happily, this was very well received.
I love to capture a moment in time, particularly a person's favourite activity or pleasure.
This is what makes the sculpture such a wonderful gift.

Papier Mache in this form is collage come to life.

The medium of paper mache or paper mache  can also bring a photo to life.
